The Razer telephone and Razer telephone 2 are the current refresh rate champions and offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz for smooth performance and touch input. We have also seen that the Asus ROG Phone and OnePlus 7 Pro offer a refresh rate of 90 Hz, but it seems that Asus is fighting Razer.
According to a machine translated version of a message on the Asus ROG Weibo page (h / t: GSMArena), the Asus ROG Phone 2 will have a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The translated post also states that video game "Under The One Man" supports the new refresh speed, with compatible titles to be announced later.
The original ROG phone offered a refresh rate of 90 Hz over a full HD OLED screen, but it is unclear whether the new phone will use OLED or LCD technology to provide 120Hz support. The Razer smartphones are the only Android phones on the market with 120Hz capabilities and they use Sharp IGZO LCD screens.
We know nothing else about the Asus ROG Phone 2, but we expect a Snapdragon 855 chipset, at least 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage space and a large battery. The original device also offered three ultrasonic triggers for gaming, a variety of gaming peripherals, and a side-mounted port for those accessories.
Our own Kevin Parrish found the original device to be an excellent product ROG Telephone Review. More specifically, Kevin praised the functions on the screen, horsepower, design and gaming. However, it was not entirely perfect, because our reviewer was disappointed with the ultrasonic triggers, pricing of accessories and camera performance.
