Before we dive into it, here is a quick overview of the best Android phones for each category:
Wondering why each of these Android phones is the best in each of their respective categories? Read on to find out why we chose these Android phones for our list.
The Galaxy S line from Samsung achieves almost perfection with the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. There is little that this phone cannot do. With the Snapdragon 855 (or the Exynos 9820, depending on the market), up to a gigantic 12GB RAM and a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with the new Infinity-O punching hole, this is an attractive powerhouse. The high-performance ethos continues with the rest of the components, including storage, which goes as high as 1TB, and a 4,100mAh battery that is more than able to get through the day.
The only weak link is the camera. The new camera package is not bad, but it does not hold candles for devices such as the Pixel 3 or even Samsung & # 39; s own Galaxy Note 9. Still, if you can look past it, the rest of the phone is great and There are a few other phones that come close to offering this much under the hood.
If you don't need a gigantic phone and still want a similar Galaxy S10 experience, you should definitely take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S10e. It is smaller, cheaper and has a better fingerprint sensor!
Although they may not match the Galaxy S10 in terms of specifications, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL enhance the aspect that made the Pixel 2 so great – the camera. They still have the same rear cameras as the Pixel 2, but there are a lot of improvements to the camera software here. The Top Shot mode takes multiple photos of your subject and recommends the best. Night Sight also offers low-light photography on the next level thanks to computational photography. Finally, there is a mode called Motion Auto Focus that allows the Pixel 3 to focus on a subject in a video, no matter how much they move.
They both have 18: 9 screens (good, 18.5: 9 for the XL), but they still look very different. The Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch Full HD + screen, which makes it look like a smaller Pixel 2 XL, while the Pixel 3 XL is at the top of a large screen. Both phones also come with Qi wireless charging support, no headphone jack (womp-womp) and can still press into the forward-facing speakers.
The Pixel 3 can be considered as the Android iPhone. But is there something wrong with that?
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is one of the best phones that you can buy. It has a large 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display that displays video and image content to the highest extent. It has a fast processor on the inside (the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or the Samsung Exynos 9810). It has enough memory (6 GB or 8 GB RAM) and a lot of storage on board (128 GB or 512 GB).
The dual rear camera of the Note 9 takes excellent photos. The embedded S Pen has added functionality this time, including support for remote control. Even the battery of the Note 9 gets an upgrade to 4000 mAh, which means that you can work longer with one charge. It can be expensive, but if you want one of the best all-round Android phones, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is hard to beat.
Oh, and this phone is beautiful.
What if you could get almost any job you'd expect from a high-end flagship, but without having to pay $ 1,000? This is possible thanks to the OnePlus 6T. You get a fast processor – the Snapdragon 845 – enough RAM, lots of storage space and a large 6.41-inch Superololed screen with a small notch in water drop.
You even get something that not all smartphones have: an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The 3,700 mAh battery lasts more than a day and is supported by the company's fast-charging technology, which fully charges it in less than 90 minutes. All that and it starts at just $ 549.
The Honor View 20 has many of the same hardware specifications as the more expensive Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The Honor View 20 has a Kirin 980 processor on the inside, and you can get it with 6 or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage on board. The 4000-Ahh battery of this phone will last approximately two full days on one charge. You also get a 40MP head reversing camera in combination with a 3D ToF sensor and a 25MP front facing camera with a perforated hole design. The Honor View 20 is also much cheaper than the Mate 20 Pro, but still a bit steep.
That's the best so far, but there are certainly several other handsets on the way that are worth watching. Here is our list of upcoming handsets to watch out for.
The LG G8 ThinQ is the company's smaller flagship for 2019, but it will have some cool security features when it comes out later in 2019. LG has added 3D face recognition and what the company calls Hand ID for using the vein patterns of your hand on the phone. It even uses hand gestures across the screen to access calls, shortcuts and more.
The LG V50 ThinQ 5G will be the first 5G phone in the company when it is introduced later this year. It's probably also one of the first stand-alone 5G phones on the market, if not the first – if you're lucky enough to live in an area where the mobile networks support this.
With this latest release, Sony wants to interest people for its Xperia phones later in 2019. The Xperia 1 has a 6.5-inch screen with a high aspect ratio of 21: 9. It will also be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC .
Even if you don't live in a 5G network, you might want to get the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G when it is introduced later this year. It will have a really huge 6.7-inch display, tons of RAM and an even larger battery than the S10 Plus. Just be prepared for a very large price tag.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro could perhaps capture the photography crown of the Google Pixel 3 this year. We must withhold the judgment until our full assessment is over, but it looks promising!
