Fortnite V8.20 delivers a new limited time mode with rising lava, as well as new types of food, including health-regenerating banana, coconut and pepper.
Fortnite V8.20 patch notes
LIMITED TIME POSITION: FLOOR IS LAVA
Resume New limited time mode: Floor is Lava. Lava is gradually coming from the lowest parts of the map and it's hot! Come in and quickly go empty and collect materials, so that you can reach the high range first.
A few minutes after the game, the lava starts to rise.
The lava moves at a constant speed until the entire card is covered.
Touching the lava will damage your health and bounce you in the air.
You can build on the lava.
Players receive a small number of materials every second to help in that "whole card is on fire" situations.
WEAPONS + ITEMS
De Baller no longer uses damage to players in a collision.
The knockback / bounce effect remains unchanged.
Future Baller iterations
We have noticed a lot of discussion about the Baller, so here is an update!
We are not satisfied with the current use of Ballers, especially in the late game. With the v8.30 update we will release a change that will allow players to shoot through The Baller's glass.
Non-glass parts still have a collision and block damage from bullets.
Siphon / material changes
In v7.40 we implemented a few Pop-up Cup settings as a test in core modes. After we have followed a combination of gameplay, data and feedback, we have collected the necessary information to complete this first test. We think this has resulted in an unhealthy level of aggressive play, which has reduced other viable strategies. The following changes have been reversed in all core modes:
50 Health (or shield) based on your health if the elimination occurs.
50/50/50 materials disappeared with Elimination.
500/500/500 Cap on materials.
Harvest percentage increased by 40%
That said, these mechanics have proven to be positive in our competitive playlists. All of the above changes remain enabled in the new Arena Game mode.
Converted to hit scan, which means that this weapon no longer fires projectiles (snipers) and now fires the same as other Assault Rifles.
Basic damage reduced from 45/42 to 42/40.
Uses the same damage trap profile as existing assault rifles.
Poison Dart Staircase
Available in Uncommon Rarity.
Can be placed on walls, floors and ceilings.
Found from Floor Loot.
Up to three grid cells can be activated.
Fires Poison Dart projectiles at a distance of three horizontal grid cells (four vertical grid cells).
Targets that are hit by darts have a damage-over-time effect that directly damages health, bypassing any shields.
10 health damage per check mark.
8 total ticks over 7 seconds for a total damage of 80.
Subsequent hits refresh the duration of the effect, but the amount of damage per tick does not change.
New Foraged Items
Give health immediately when consumed.
Can be found in the tropical biome.
Frustrated by damaging palm trees.
When consumed, Coconuts provide 5 points of effective health in a short time. That means it will complement shields if the player has maximum health.
Can be found in tropical and desert biomes.
When consumed, peppers immediately provide health and also increase the player's speed of movement by 20% for 10 seconds.
Can be found in the desert biome.
The directional direction Buried Treasure is now attached to the player and comes from the treasure map area to improve visibility, especially while driving.
The indicator continues to pulse every 3 seconds while the item is equipped.
Pirate cannon adjustments
Adjusted the collision of the pirate cannon to ensure that the driver's seat can always be entered without having to hit the cannon.
Relocation of seat prompt locations for easier access to the cannon.
Increased the radius of cannonballs and land explosions of players from 200 units to 250 units.
Reduced cannon pulse / recoil when firing a cannonball while driving or launching a player. This is unchanged on completion.
The equip time of the Epic / Legendary Pump Shotgun adapted to the unusual / rare versions.
A problem has been solved where Clingers damaged players by walls when they were attached to another player.
A problem has been solved that prevents glider pickups from counting their stack.
The movement of projectile trajectories of grenades, which remained behind with a tick, smoothed out.

Based on the positive feedback we received during these specific pop-up cups, we implement the following adjustments:
50 Health (or shield) based on your health if the elimination occurs.
50/50/50 materials disappeared with Elimination
500/500/500 Cap on materials
Harvest percentage increased by 40%
We are keeping a close eye on the feedback on this change – play a few games and let us know what you think!

We have added a compound time delay to the "snap-to" function of the target aid when spamming the Aim Down Sight button. Each button pressed after the first one applies a time delay, up to 5 seconds, before the "snap-to" effect is applied.
We do this change to prevent situations where players spam the Aim Down Sight button on enemies, causing the reticle to remain on targets indefinitely.
This change must prevent the mechanical lock from being misused while maintaining the same Aim Assist feeling. We will closely follow the feedback on this change.

Fortnite Battle Royale version 7.01 update overview
With Season 7 in full swing, version 7.01 might not seem that exciting by comparison. That said, the new version of Fortnite includes the Infinity Blade weapon from Epic Games’ Infinity Blade series, the new Close Encounters limited-time mode, and more.
After the new version rolled out to players, however, they complained that the Infinity Blade was overpowered. It also didn’t help that there were no good counters against it.
As a result, the Infinity Blade is now a Vaulted weapon. It’s no longer available in Fortnite, though it could come back as a retooled weapon.
