Is Samsung working on a smartphone with a double fold like that of Xiaomi?

Probably the most exciting folding smartphone we've seen, is one that is not yet official. It is the (provisionally called) Xiaomi Mi Fold, a device that folds double, as can be seen in this video teaser. Samsung already has its own Galaxy Fold next month to be able to do that, but apparently the company is working on another foldable smartphone, and it is similar to the Xiaomi Mi Fold.

A recently discovered patent application reveals exactly that. The above model, courtesy or LetsGoDigital, tries to illustrate what Samsung describes in its patent application. Namely, a smartphone (or a tablet) with a square form factor, no bezels at all, that folds left and right to expand the screen.

Also, the foldable parts appear to contain all the components, including the battery, and other internals, while the middle part is just a screen that is reinforced in the middle to stay stuck.

This is of course a patent from 2017 that was published in 2018. Samsung was probably this concept and went into the foldable design of the Galaxy Fold, or is it still working on the idea. That said, let's know what you think. The patented idea of Samsung or Mi Fold by Xiaomi?
