Sonos and IKEA have made a table lamp that also functions as a loudspeaker

3 min read

Already in 2017, Sonos announced working with IKEA to create a new series of products that combined Sonos speakers with furniture designed by IKEA. These products fall under the SYMFONISK brand and on 8 April Sonos unveiled its latest entry for it: a table lamp.

With the beautiful name "SYMFONISK table lamp with WiFi speaker", the lamp has a striking design. There seems to be a plastic base, a fabric cover around the speaker section and the lampshade and the light bulb on the top. It doesn't look like a table lamp I've ever seen, but I'm really digging the aesthetic.

Per Iina Vuorivirta, a lamp designer:

We knew from the start that we wanted to challenge traditional high-tech aesthetics. The lamp-speaker comes in part from the idea of the fireplace – a single piece that spreads warm light and sound.

If you are interested, the lamp has a price of $ 179 / € 179. It joins the previously announced SYMFONISK bookshelf with WiFi speaker (see above) which is confirmed to cost $ 99 / € 99.95. Both the table lamp and the bookshelf work like any other Sonos product, which means that they are operated via the Sonos app and can be grouped with other Sonos speakers.
